Learn the facts that lead to informed choices about work and economic self-sufficiency for individuals who receive Social Security disability benefits and associated health insurance!


After completion of this webinar you should understand:

  • The difference between Social Security disability benefit programs and eligibility criteria
  • The difference between Medicare and Medicaid
  • How work incentives can be used to temporarily safeguard benefits
  • How work incentives can assist individuals with the transition to work and self-sufficiency
  • What work incentive protections exist to maintain state and federal health insurance during employment
  • The importance of benefits education and benefits counseling services to employment success rates

***IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE:***

  • This is a live, full-day event. Registration is limited.
    • You MUST be able to participate in the in-person session. There is no “phone-in” or "webinar" option for this training. 
    • Full attendance and participation during the day of training, completion of a post-training evaluation, and completion of a post-training assessment with a passing score of 80% within two attempts are mandatory to obtain a Certificate of Proficiency (COP)!
  • Pre-registration via your individual Learning Account is mandatory for participation. 
    • Due to limited space, pre-registration is required. Individuals who do not register in advance will not be permitted to attend the training.
    • If registration reaches capacity, and you are not within a priority registrant group, you may be placed on the wait list. You will be notified by email if this should occur.

  • ​​​​​​​Cancellation and No-Show Policy
    • ​​​​​​​A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for registration cancellations. Supervisors will be notified of individuals who cancel less than 24 hours before the training or who do not attend without notice. Failure to do so may result in a 12-month registration denial for ANY live program offerings.
    • No-shows will result in immediate denial of ANY live program offerings for 12 months.

Keirstyn has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Public Administration and Policy. She is a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner, as well as a Community Partner Work Incentive Counselor and a Veteran Work Incentive Practitioner. She has over a decade of experience providing and supervising behavioral health and evidence-based-supported employment services. Keirstyn oversees the daily operations, communications, services, and marketing of the Maryland Employment Network. Keirstyn’s creativity, attention to detail and collaborative spirit help her to lead a high-quality program that is both innovative and growing.

Erin has built more than 10 years of social service experience with diverse populations across the country in both rural and urban areas; serving those with mental illness, co-occurring disorders, developmental disabilities and individuals experiencing homelessness. Erin received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Religion and Cultures.  She became SOAR certified in 2016 and gained provisional Community Partner Work Incentive Counselor certification in the spring of 2019. In her role with MD-EN, Erin utilizes her skills and extensive experience to provide benefits planning and education to individuals seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce.
